The titanium alloy material has a tendency to fill the grinding wheel, which brings difficulties to the grinding of titanium alloy rods and TC4 titanium alloy.During grinding, the higher temperature rise generated at the interface between the metal and the grinding wheel causes the grinding surface to produce. Higher residual stress, and at the same time, the surface finish is not ideal.
The following methods can basically solve these difficulties:
- (1) Select the appropriate grinding wheel, such as silicon carbide grinding wheel, the sand size is medium (60 ~ 80), the hardness is medium (J ~ M), the surface speed is 700 ~ 1200m / min, alumina (aluminum oxide powder or corundum) The grinding wheel should be used at a lower speed, for example 550 ~ 600min. Also requires medium granularity.
- (2) Use lower grinding wheel speed and feed speed; due to the low speed of the grinding wheel, less sparks are generated.
- (3) Titan Mars may catch fire when it encounters oil mist, but completely immersing the workpiece with oil can reduce this danger. The antirust type ammonium nitrite aqueous solution can completely eliminate the risk of fire.
- (4) Cooling with buffer or cutting fluid coolant, with ceramic binder and chlorinated or vulcanized cutting oil, you can get good results. No matter what type of coolant is used, it should be well filtered to eliminate the “fish tail” stains caused by the recycling of titanium particles.
